Day 30 : the linking post

  • Lone Wolf

I think this is the record I’m the most looking forward to. After having heard 5 songs from this record, I can now tell you that this album is going to be a great one. I hope you like synths, high voices and good guitar sounds. Oh, and I’ve heard that Laura Groves (Blue Roses) is making an appearance on this record which is a huge bonus. Less depressing and sexier than the previous one, this album will be out sometime this year. Probably around May or June. []

  • Lone Wolf -> Lindsay Wilson

Lins has played in several bands before taking the decision to record some solo stuff. She currently plays cello with Lone Wolf but maybe some of you has seen her in the first version of Sky Larkin, or in defunct bands like Mother Vulpine and Grammatics. She recently started to record her first strings album with Jon from Duels, and it’s produced by Owen Brinley (Grammatics). Nice stuff, isn’t it? []

  • Lindsay Wilson -> Duels

Where the hell are they? It’s been 4 years since the band released their last record and we haven’t heard from them ever since. I know that James Kenosha is now producing amazing records, and I know that the others are working in other projects, but c’mon, we need some Duels in our lives! []

  • Duels -> Stalking Horse

Speaking of other projects, there’s actually a Duels member in the live version of Stalking Horse. This band has released a few songs last year in order to prepare us to their brand new record called Specters. We still don’t know when this record will be out but some songs are amazing already. I’m glad this band exists because I knew the existence of This Et Al only two years after their split. Wu’s voice is beautiful. It really is. And the presence of Owen Brinley and Tommy Davidson (These Monsters) makes the band’s sound even better. []

  • Stalking Horse -> Owen Brinley

Colour Of Fire ex member and Grammatics’ leader Owen Brinley has finally decided to work a bit more on his solo project. The writing process started around two years ago and I don’t think it’s finished yet. No need to listen to the songs to say that the new stuff is amazing. Black Out Boutique features Lins on cello. Oh, and I’ve heard that Paul Marshall (Lone Wolf) was helping him with some voice recordings. Oh yeah.

  • Owen Brinley -> Blue Roses

I can’t mention Owen without mentioning Laura. I just love when their voices are put together. No wait, I just like when Laura is singing with someone else because it always fits perfectly well. Blue Roses have sung a lot with Grammatics. Oh, and by the way, I won’t tell you more about her because I’ve already done that at the beginning of the month.

  • Blue Roses -> Grammatics

Relentless Fours, Inkjet Lakes are counted among my favourite songs thanks to Laura’s beautiful voice. It’s a shame I’ll never be able to hear these songs live. Oh and this version of Doubtful Comforts is amazing.

  • Grammatics -> Pulled Apart By Horses

These two bands are related for so many reasons! They’ve toured together, shared beds together, Grammatics’ bass player has its own suicide song, and Lins used to play with Tom in another band a few years ago : they were called Mother Vulpine. []

  • Pulled Apart By Horses -> Dinosaur Pile-Up

And Matt Bigland used to play in Mother Vulpine as well. Now lead singer of Dinosaur Pile-Up, Matt and his friends are currently recording an album due for 2012. Let’s hope they’ll come to France this time. []

  • Dinosaur Pile-Up -> Harry George Johns

Harry plays with Dinosaur Pile-Up, but he also decided to record some solo songs. And it’s surprisingly good! []
