• Day 29 : Sketches

Sometimes you realise you can trust someone more easily because you share the same musical taste with this person. It’s like “alright, you listen to the same stuff as I do, it’s like we live our lives in the same way and like the same things”. It’s a bit how I felt when I first got into Sketches.

Fun facts :

- This Sir, Is War, one of their oldest songs, was featured on an EP released by Fierce Panda (previous homes of Keane, Coldplay, Death Cab For Cutie, iLiKETRAiNS and so many others)
- My Father’s Son was an EP recorded by Richard Formby (Wild Beasts, Spectrals, Dry The River…)
- They’re from Leeds.

Their music first reminded me of Grammatics, because the voice was really strong and the rhythm was almost built in the same way. And for good reason, Grammatics are listed as one of their biggest influences (and so are Wild Beasts, Dutch Uncles, and lots of different bands).

It’s true that you might end up having the song Bleed Victoria stuck in your head for a couple of days, but admit it : it’s a good song, right?

They’re currently mixing their debut album. It should be out very soon.
