If you write a shit song, then it doesn’t last very long....
– Fran Healy (Travis)
Top Albums 2011.
I didn’t want to do one at first because I always thought these meaningless tops were made before Christmas in order to give people an idea of what gift they have to buy for their music-lover friends. A real marketing tool.
But as Christmas has passed and as I had already put the albums I listened to into an Excel file since January 1st, I thought I had to remind the 75 years-old me what...

(Final tour diary, part I) December 10th : XMAS...
Why should I wait for December 25th to come when I can celebrate Xmas a few days before ?
This year, I decided to finish my “gig year” exactly the way it started : with a Lone Wolf gig, in Leeds.
Most people think I’m crazy. They often ask me “Why do you like Leeds so much? How did you get into so many local bands? And why the hell have you decided to go to...

December 7th: Juffage _ Le Rigoletto _ Paris
After October’s gig disaster and a few van issues during the Euro tour, Jeff kindly invided me to see the last show of his very long Euro tour here, in Paris.
3 other bands were playing that night, but the Christmas lights made me miss them all. But this time, I was on time for Juffage’s show!
It was the first time I went to this venue. I really didn’t know what to expect. Most...

November Tour Diary Part II _ Hard-fi
Nov 8th : Hard-Fi, La Flèche d’Or, Paris
It lasted 4 long years before Hard-fi finally decided to come back to France. When you’re an Hard-fi fan, you have to learn how to be patient. I wasn’t supposed to come to this gig at first (because my musical taste have changed since 2007), but then I got free tickets and I was too curious...

November Tour Diary Part I _ Other Lives, Patrick...
Nov 3rd : Other Lives (concert privé, Le Mouv’)_ Maison de La Radio _ Radio France _ Paris [Video]
Mistake to avoid #1 : If you ever go to Paris : never take the bus at 6pm when it’s raining. You might end up taking 20minutes to go from one street to another. Take the metro instead.
It was 8:25pm when I arrived at the building. I really thought they wouldn’t...

ihate people who do that.
Me too :(
It’s not as if the sign was shown during the whole set. It was just for one song. One. Single. Song.

that is so great!
Thank you!
A few months later, my friend did the same sign. The letters were made of Heineken bottles pictures. I thought it was the coolest sign ever.
Sadly, some stupid drunk boys have torn the sign up before the end of the song :(

It was an idea I had with a friend. I made it, and when the song started, I showed it to the band with pride. As me & my friend were in the front row, Ricky tried to grab it, but...

October Tour Diary Part IV _ Oct 28th : Wild...
For my last gig of the month, I decided to spend about 45€ to go to the Pitchfork Music Festival. Why ? Because I knew this would be a great occasion to bump into A LOT of American hipsters. So I thought it would be a fun night.
1st mistake of the night : Not having noticed the festival started at 4.30pm. I woke up late that day. Woops. Bye Bye Theam Ghost & Fucked Up !

October Tour Diary Part III : Oct 27th : Three...
October 27th was quite a tough night because I had to choose between Three Trapped Tigers (Le Petit Bain) and Juffage (L’International). And as Three Trapped Tigers were supposed to play at 8pm, I just thought I could go to both gig. But life is not that simple you know.
So my first appointment was at the Petit Bain (it’s the French for “Small Bath” / “Baby Pool”), a venue I’ve never been...

Oct. 25th: Wild Beasts + Dutch Uncles _ Le Grand Mix _ Tourcoing [videos]
After their gig in Aulnoye-Aymeries, Maéva (the person in charge of the volunteers during the Nuits Secrètes festival) kindly gave me a free ticket for the band’s next show in Tourcoing. Even if I was in a bad period financially speaking (and I had an important oral exam the day after), I just couldn’t decline such a great...
